Quilt in a Day Tales of First Ladies
by Eleanor Burns

Christmas at the White House
Decorating the White House began in the 1850's, when President Franklin Pierce brought a tree indoors for the holidays.  First Lady Caroline Harrison began a tradition by decorating their tree when her husband was in office.  Settle down by the fire and thumb through these pages, finding out more about our First Ladies that graced the White House.  You may chuckle over some little known facts!  Then, pull out your sewing machine and stitch up some quilt blocks steeped in history.
